Two-factor authentication
Two-factor is required on every account. What to set up, and what happens if you lose the device.
Every account on VetEval has two-factor authentication, and it cannot be turned off. Accounts here hold model credentials and can spend money, and an account protected by a password alone is protected by whatever that password was reused on.
What to use
- An authenticator app producing six digit codes. Any of the standard ones works.
- A passkey, which counts as both factors on its own once it is verified.
SMS is deliberately not offered. A phone number can be moved to somebody else's SIM by a phone call to a network, and that is not a second factor for an account that holds credentials.
Setting it up
You are asked to enrol the first time you sign in. Scan the code with your authenticator app, then enter the six digits it shows. Keep the recovery arrangements of your authenticator app in mind at this point: most of them can be backed up, and doing it now costs nothing.
If you lose the device
Ask us using Contact us at the bottom of any page. A member of staff can clear the enrolment so your next sign-in sets up a new authenticator. We will check that the request is genuinely from you first, and the reset is recorded.
